Entertainment Highway (Nigeria) is now fully operational!

As per our Press Release from last March, HYPERCABLE international is very glad to announce that its client Entertainment Highway Ltd has now started commercial operation of its Hypercable station in Lagos-Nigeria.
HiTV actually broke the monopoly in Nigeria’s pay television industry enjoyed until now by DSTV. It is now ready to challenge the dominance of its South African owned competitor and has put all its will and energy to achieve this goal. A few months earlier, HiTV had already made history as it won the right to broadcast English Premier League to its Nigerian subscribers.
Among the 24 channels it will first broadcast are CNN, BBC World, Al Jazeera, God Africa, MTV Base, Fox Sports and also some specially created channels such as Hi-Sports, Hi-Ovation, Hi-Kids … With that, HiTV is targeting 100.000 subscribers by the end of 2007 and is expecting that this figure will rise to 1 million by the end of 2010. Thanks to its Hypercable digital terrestrial platform, HiTV has ample space for additional channels and programmes as it is only using part of the entire capacity of the system. Other developments in the future could of course also include a deployment in other parts of the country to equip even more households with these pocket friendly packages. Visit http://hitv.com.ng/

Ü Integration process
As it is the case for all our deployments, the Head End and 4 Relays (type HyCroPIF KU 33) purchased by Entertainment Highway Ltd were fully integrated and tested in Hypercable’s lab before their validation through a Factory Acceptance Protocol.
3 engineers and technicians from Hypercable international took part in this essential phase that lasted approx. 3 weeks.

The shipment of all the equipment to Lagos / Nigeria summarized in a few figures represented a total of :
- 5 350 kg of freight
- 17 paletts
Hopefully,we are fully equipped for the handling of such quantities (large stocking area, loading ramp, fork-lift truck …)

During factory integration and shipment HiTV staff was busy preparing the sites according to Hypercable’s recommendations:

Mission was to install:

- In 28 days maximum
- For broadcast of 24 TV channels
- System capacity 500 TV Channels
- HyperWimax Ready

Ü System installed
The system is successfully installed by Hypercable’s trained engineers with the precious help of HiTV’s technicians in the given deadline. All tests and settings are also confirmed. See bellow some pictures taken during installation
