Maniitsoq is a small town of 3500 residents located on the West Coast of Greenland. The town is situated in several small valleys.
The residents came together with the local government for a common goal: to broadcast multichannel television. Today Maniitsoq TV broadcasts 15 digital TV channels.
The complicated geography in Maniitsoq is a hill and valley landscape, and the local UHF channel requires 3 transmitters to cover the small town, but Hypercable® covers the town with one transmitter. Users not in line of site with the transmitter receive signal from multipath reflections. This system, based on an unmanned station, has been on air since 2000 without interruption.
